Dr Syed Zulfiqar Ali is currently the General Secretary of Kohatians Foundation. He is a founder member of the Kohatians Foundation and has contributed to different plans implemented by the Foundation. He has an established network of associates and social activists that he is able to mobilize for participation in different Foundation events.
He worked closely with Senator Farhatullah Baber in the Shaheed Bhutto Foundation (SBF). SBF in 2010, had done pioneering work on “Mainstreaming FATA”, bringing together hundreds of elders, maliks, intelligentsia, academics, members of civil society, parliamentarians from FATA and across Pakistan to propose recommendations on reform in the then FATA.
Dr. Zulfiqar has remained member of Senior Management Teams, multi sector clusters on health & nutrition as well as multi sectoral Task Forces engaging with multiple partners in development sector at the operational as well as policy level. He has worked with many organizations in career including three United Nations’ agencies (UNICEF, UNHCR and WHO) in four countries (Pakistan, Iraq, Afghanistan and Egypt), the World Bank, DFID, governments, NGOs. Dr Zulfiqar joined the Aga Khan Health Service Pakistan as its Chief Executive Officer.
Dr Zulfiqar has contributed to development of various policies and guidelines for the Kohatians Foundation. He has remained active in KF activities, including financial assistance to deserving students, to TDPs after ‘Zarb e Azb’ operations, and COVID pandemic lockdown, relief work during floods of 2010, and holding free medical camps in different remote villages.
Dr Syed Zulfiqar Ali born in Kohat, received his early education in Kohat. He got his Matric and FSc from Cadet College Kohat. He got his degree in Medicine from Khyber Medical College, Peshawar in 1990. He has been active in social issues since his student life. He was an active member of the Blood Donors Society of the College. After graduating from medical college, he proceeded to the US and got his Masters degree in Public Health from the University of Oklahoma in 1995.
Currently he is working as a Consultant on Policy, Public administration and health sector reform, health financing.
He is working for his PhD from Australian National University Medical School.
