Kohatians’ Foundation Financial Assistance

Cadet College Kohat (CCK) is a premier institution of the country. The institute has contributed in the formation of the lives of a number of young boys. Being a residential educational institution, the boys spend a significant part of adolescent life in the CCK. Established in 1964, CCK has contributed in the development of careers of thousands, some of whom have reached a stage where they are able to play a role in the development of the area. With this objective in mind, the Alumni of the CCK – called ‘Kohatians” – have organized themselves in ‘Kohatians Association’ and Kohatians’ Foundation (KF). These two sister organizations are taking a number of initiatives to support the college.

A key area the Kohatians’ Foundation is contributing towards is the financial support to cadets in the CCK who find it difficult to meet their expenses. In order to provide support to such deserving cadets, the Kohatians contribute towards a fund established for the purpose. Such assistance is also available to deserving students of other institutions as well.

Kohatians Foundation may provide financial assistance for other purposes and other members of the population also.

 ELIGIBILITY

Provision of the financial assistance by Kohatians’ Foundation is based on the following conditions.  The student must:

  • be eligible to receive financial assistance
  • be making satisfactory academic progress
    • maintain at least A grade in the exams
    • maintain at least 85% attendance in classes
  • not receiving financial support from other sources
  • commit not to indulge in unhealthy activities like smoking, use of drugs or alcohol

PRIORITY CRITERIA:

As the KF does not have a regular source of income and the funds available are inadequate to meet requirements of all deserving Cadets and students, the KF has to adopt a mechanism for assessing priorities.

Applications will be received by the KF from deserving cadets and other deserving students in the month of March each year, just before the beginning of the academic year.

The KF Management Board will assess the applications and award financial assistance to deserving cadets / students based on the funds available.

Financial assistance to Cadets and other deserving students will be given on term/ annual basis. KF cannot guarantee payment of financial assistance for all expenses for the full year &/or full stay in the college. Cadets / other students receiving assistance have to accept the possibility that the KF may be unable to continue payment of the financial assistance due to shortage of funds or change in policies.

For cadets, first preference will be given to deserving cadets who are about to appear in a board exam i.e. in class 9th/10th or in class 12th. The Cadets who have just joined the CCK in class 8th will not be eligible for receiving financial assistance from KF.

Similarly for students in other institutions, financial assistance will be preferably provided to those who require one time assistance and can continue studies without KF assistance over the long run.

LEVEL OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

KF depending on the income, savings of the family will determine the proportion of financial assistance to be provided to contribute towards the fees and expenses of the Cadets/students. KF will, only in exceptional cases, provide full fees. KF will prefer to contribute 50% of the college (Tuition) fees.

LOSS OF ELIGIBILITY:

Academic progress for financial aid will be reviewed at the end of each term. Students receiving financial aid are expected to make satisfactory progress in academics and perform well in the class.

Students who fail to earn an A grade and/or who fail to complete at least 85% attendance will be placed on financial aid probation for one term for the purpose of improving grades and/ or improving attendance. The Cadet /student will continue to receive financial aid during a probationary term. Failure to make satisfactory progress according to the terms of the probationary period will result in termination of financial aid.

REPAYMENT OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Cadets and students of other education institutions who receive financial aid are expected to pay back the amount after getting gainful employment. The Cadets and students of other education institutions will provide an Affidavit stating that the Cadet and students of other education institutions is in need of the financial assistance because the Cadet’s family is unable to afford the fees for the College and that the Cadet and students of other education institutions will pay back the amount in installments to be agreed with the KF on completion of studies and getting gainful employment.

Similar undertaking will be given by students in other educational institutions requiring financial assistance.
