Kohatians Foundation Provides Flood Relief in Bahawalpur and Swat
Kohatians Foundation active in providing relief to people affected by floods. Free medical camp organised in Ahmedpur Shraqia, district Bahalwalpur in which 1,133 patients examined and treated. In Mingora, Swat, Kohatians Foundation has provided cash assistance to 190 people whose houses and means of livelihood were destroyed in floods.
The Kohatians Foundation, established by the alumni of Cadet College Kohat (CCK), is providing support to affected families. Since 1964, CCK has been integral to the development of countless careers. Many of our alumni have ascended to influential positions, empowered to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s progress. With this mission in mind, the Kohatians—our alumni—formed the Kohatians Foundation to mobilize efforts that benefit society. We unite community leaders who are committed to driving positive change through the spirit of volunteerism.
Operating in a strict non-political, non-partisan, and non-sectarian manner, the Kohatians Foundation harnesses the strength of CCK alumni and dedicated community members to elevate society.
The recent floods in Pakistan have caused immense suffering and destruction. Homes built from mud and unbaked bricks have been obliterated, shops and kiosks have been damaged, summer crops have been entirely lost, livestock have perished, and vital roads and bridges have been swept away. Many families affected by floods have lost their life savings and livelihoods, & lack the necessary resources to rebuild their lives after such a catastrophic disaster. We work directly with communities devastated by disasters, ensuring that aid reaches those who need it most.
The floodwaters may have receded, but the work is far from over.
While the devastation is quite wide and affected areas around the country, with our limited resources we can only provide assistance to a very small number of people and families affected in the floods.
KF plans its relief activities for 2-3 weeks after the disaster because there is always a crowd going in immediately after a disaster and then the support dries up.
Looking at reports, KF decided to provide assistance to one village in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where we have an active member on ground who can identify and make sure the assistance reaches those who truly deserve assistance.
Similarly, a free medical camp was established in Ahmedpur Sharqia, a village in Bahawalpur district which has been severely affected by floods.
Dr. Adnan Mustafa, (46th, JH) a doctor belonging to Ahmedpur Sharqia and a Kohatian contacted Kohatians Foundation and asked for KF support for the population affected in recent floods in his hometown, Ahmadpur East. Dr Adnan informed KF that population of his hometown and nearby villages have been badly affected by recent floods in river Sutlaj. People are homeless and spending days and nights under open sky. He also reported that little government support has reached this area.
Keeping all the circumstances in mind, as well as his expertise, Dr Adnan offered to hold free medical camps to help the poor population by providing them with urgently needed Medical facilities. Dr Adnan and his family have been providing free food and shelter to affected population of this area since the floods first hit.
After a series of discussions and review of Dr Adnan’s plan, KF agreed to provide assistance in these efforts.
A 3 day Medical camp with provision of free medicines and some basic laboratory diagnostics tests was planned and held from September 15th to 17th. Most medicines were purchased in Lahore with funds provided by KF, while some medicines were donated by pharmaceutical manufacturing companies. A team of doctors, paramedics and allied health personnel was organised and provided services during the camp.
Medical camp was held under temporary arrangements, as most of built structures are still under water for which tents were installed with separate enclosures for male and female patients. Separate counters were established to process men and women patients. A lady doctor attended to female patients on second day of the camp.
Anticipating that there may be patients requiring observation for a few hours or administration of intravenous medicines and fluids, separate 4 bedded detention wards for Males and Females were arranged.
All patient visits were recorded with and shared with KF.
On 15th September 2025, a total of 339 patients (179 male and 160 women and children) were examined and treated in the camp.
On 16th September, 419 patients were examined and treated. Of these 168 were men and 251 were women and children.
While on the third day, 375 patients were examined and treated, 155 men and 220 women and children.
They were provided with medicines as prescribed.
Dr. Saad, Dr. Husnain, Dr.Zain and Dr.Naeem Sial along with Dr.Adnan Mustafa provided services during the three day medical camp organised by Kohatians Foundation.
The paramedics and allied health staff who volunteered were each provided with an honorarium as gratitude for their service and dedication.
Kohatians foundation is grateful to all donors who contributed to the flood relief efforts.
Kohatians Foundation appreciates and commends Dr Adnan Mustafa and his colleagues and associates who worked hard for providing service to the people of Ahmedpur Sharqia affected by the floods.
